Background Previous research has failed to find evidence supporting the use of traction for
patients with low back pain. Previous studies have used heterogeneous samples or
traction protocols generally not recommended by experts. This study examined
subgroups thought by experts to be most likely to benefit, and used a traction
protocol incorporating high force and adjustable positioning to complement the
EOTA.
Objective To identify a subgroup of patients with low back pain who are likely to respond
favorably to an intervention including mechanical traction.
